Today is President Lincoln’s birthday. What a legacy of faith he has left behind. One famous quote President Lincoln said in regards to prayer is, “I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My own wisdom, and that of all about me, seemed insufficient for the day.

Isn’t that the perfect place we should be…not only on our knees, but knowing there is no better place to go than to God? If we are in tune to what God has planned for our day, and live in obedience to the direction we are given, I believe a more abundant life would be experienced. How do we know what God has planned? It takes relationship building. It takes communication.

If you consider the relationships that you currently have, how many would flourish with no communication…how well would you know or understand that person without spending time with them? I think especially of spouses…a more intimate relationship. Our relationship with God should be intimate. This takes a decision to make it a priority. As our relationship with God further develops, we will know God’s voice. This is promised in John 10:4, “When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.”

Make a decision today to seek God and listen for God’s voice. Building on this relationship will be the greatest love relationship you will experience.
